Day 6

Today we relocated to the dry camp spot west of Blanding on highway 95. There is no cell phone or internet service at this location so there will be several days before I can post today’s travel blog.

It is only 33 miles from Mexican Hat to this camp site. We had camp set up before noon and grill hot dogs for lunch. We just had finish lunch when the afternoon shower started. As this is a camp day, tonight’s dinner is sirloin steaks, bake potatoes and corn with ice cream for dessert.

This camping area also serves as a horse camp for cross country horse riders. The outfitters travel by road, set up camp and cook dinner for those who are traveling this part of the country by horseback. In the morning they serve the riders breakfast, break camp and travel to the next day’s camp to meet the riders again. Some of the trips can be several hundred miles and take several weeks to complete.

Tomorrow will tour Natural Bridges National Monument and old Indian ruins.

Dinner tonight is salad, mesquite grilled sirloin steak, baked potatoes and green beans.
