Days 1 & 2

We are on the road again. The main purpose of our summer travels this year is to attend our grandson Ryan’s high school graduation in early June and then visit with our son when he returns from his 1 year tour in Afghanistan mid July.

We left home yesterday May 21st and spent the night in our usual first stop, Cameron Trading Post RV Park. We will spend the next 4 nights in Mexican Hat, UT camped by the San Juan River that will serve as our base camp for touring Monument Valley, the Valley of the Gods and the San Juan River area. We will then work our way up the scenic National Parks of southern Utah to Charlie’s Service where we will have our coach serviced while visiting with our son’s family and attending Ryan’s graduation.

After the graduation we will work our way farther north up through Idaho and Montana visit our friends Don and Karen on McGregor Lake and loop back down through Montana and Idaho to be back in Layton, UT to visit with our son and his family before their departure to his next assignment in Germany.

We have a fellow Alfa Owner, Nancy, that his traveling with us in her Alfa Gold. She will travel with us as far as Charlie’s Service in Sunset, Utah. She is from Georgia and this is her first venture in the west.

We have a cool low hanging over us and are experiencing rain and thunderstorms. This is the first time that we have traveled this time of year north through Phoenix where we did not have to run the generator so we could use the heat pumps to cool the coach. During today’s travel, we encountered 55 degree temperatures.

Check our travel blog often for updates and pictures of the scenic west as we continue our travels over the coming weeks.
