Day 25 – Alberta Beach AB to Peace River, AB June 10, 2010

Today’s Mileage 262
Miles to Date 2419
Miles Remaining 6902

Today was a much longer day then anticipated as we got a late start due to problems with the right rear inner tire Pressure Pro sensor. This has been a problem ever since we purchased the new tires. When we purchased the tires, we had to change out the valve extender and the Pressure Pro sensor does not push the valve stem on the extender far enough to pressurize the extender. I thought that I had it fixed at Don’s by using a small piece of aluminum foil. The foil compressed enough over time and the extender lost pressure. We traveled today without the sensor.

We arrived at the Wal-Mart in Peace River around 5:00 PM, purchased a roasted chicken, potato salad and Cole Slaw for dinner and will spend the night in the parking lot. Then it was back to Wal-Mart to try and find something to remedy the tire sensor problem. I found some small snaps that fit over the pin in the valve stem and at least for now the extender is pressurized and the sensor is working.

The drive from Alberta Beach to Peace River was routine. The highway was four lanes most of the way. The scenery was mostly large farms dotted with a few gas and oil rigs.

Peace River is located on the banks of the Peace River in Northern Sunrise County, Alberta. The population is 6240. It is an important transportation center on the Peace River and is the center for government services in the region. Area industry includes a pulp mill, gas and oil and farming.

No photos or videos were taken along the route today as my photographer thought that the scenery would be too monotonous and I could not convince her to have the camera out and ready. She was probably right as all we really saw along the way was a herd of buffalo.

There is no WiFi available here in the Wal-Mart parking lot, so I will have to post this another day.
